The fundamental guidelines used in designing the systems were unrestricted serviceability and ease of installation. Factors of equal importance were reliability, safety and resistance to corrosion. As a result of this design criterion and the Birdwell Company's close attention to detail, our customers believe these systems to be the finest available for the intended markets.

Birdwell units are industrial grade and of all welded and bolted construction. All cabinets and other sheet metal parts are constructed of not less than 16 gauge stainless steel as standard. .

Optional coil coatings may be Thrmoguard, Epoxy, or five coat phenolic material with each coat baked in our special oven to temperatures up to 425 F.

Most Birdwell units are third party certified by an OSHA accredited Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) for several explosion proof configurations. The Birdwell Company has the only Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Listed explosion proof air conditioning unit. As President, CEO, and Chief Engineer, Gaylon Birdwell is closely involved in all aspects of design, production, sales/marketing, and plant management. In his early career as service technician and then mechanical contractor, Birdwell saw that air conditioning and environmental equipment could be designed to be rugged, efficient and service friendly. He also recognized that industries were having to make do with products not engineered to withstand industrial demands and so established The Birdwell Company, manufacturer of environmental control system. Birdwell believes, "It’s easy to make something complicated. The real challenge is to simplify".
Sales and Marketing
All factory sales personnel are highly trained and experienced in the unique requirements of industrial explosion proof air conditioning, heating, pressurization and air filtration applications. The sales team employs distributors and agents world-wide. The majority of new business contracted with The Birdwell Company is the result of word-of-mouth referral and repeat business. Domestic/international advertising and direct mailing often introduce Birdwell products and services, but customers visits to a Birdwell job or, even better, Birdwell’s plant facility are most effective. Birdwell equipment sells itself!

The Birdwell Company stays on the cutting edge of computer technology and technical advances in manufacturing. A shop foreman loads newly designed cabinet parts from computer drafted CADD drawings into a high-tech software program which will convert the part drawings into machine tool language. Tooling and machine operations are computer selected to maximize fabrication efficiency and part quality.
Turret Punch Operation
... is the heartbeat of Birdwell’s manufacturing operation. Virtually all of Birdwell’s equipment cabinets and many internal parts are precisely punched out on this computer controlled machine tool. Part tolerances of plus/minus five thousandths of an inch are standard for all part dimensions. This machine tool will handle stainless steel sheet metal thickness up to 11 gauge and soft steel plate up to one quarter inch thick.
